Yang Min-hyeok (20) is set to leave English Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur on loan to Belgian side KVC Westerlo.

According to local outlets including The Athletic and HLN in Belgium, as of the 11th (Korean time), Yang has already traveled to Belgium to finalize his loan move to Westerlo. Reports indicate that the loan deal does not include an option for a permanent transfer.

If negotiations are completed and the loan to Westerlo is officially confirmed, this will mark Yang's fourth loan departure since joining Tottenham. Last January, shortly after moving from Gangwon FC to Tottenham, he was immediately loaned out to Queens Park Rangers (QPR). In August of that year, he moved on loan to Portsmouth, and in January this year, he joined Coventry City FC (both clubs competing in the English Championship, second division) on successive loans. This will be his first move to a Belgian league club. He has yet to make an official appearance for Tottenham. His contract with Tottenham runs until 2030.

Westerlo, Yang's new team, is a top-flight Belgian club that finished ninth in the regular season last year with a record of 10 wins, 9 draws, and 11 losses, before advancing through the UEFA Conference League group playoffs to finish the season in 10th place. While there are no South Korean players currently on the squad, three Japanese players — Shunsuke Saito, Isao Sakamoto, and Seiji Kimura — are active there. The club has also hosted Tottenham players such as Luka Bushkovic and Alfie Devine on loan in the past.

In the 2024 season, Yang played as a semi-professional player for Gangwon FC in K League 1 before becoming the first high school student in history to sign a professional contract that same summer. During the 2024 season, he made 38 appearances in K League 1, scoring 12 goals and providing six assists, earning recognition as a candidate for the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award of his debut season.

Through this journey, he received his first call-up to the national A-team under coach Hong Myung-bo, and the following year after moving to Europe, he made his A-match debut at the youngest age in history — 18 years and 343 days. He is also a recipient of the Future Star Awards, organized by StarNews.
