Son Heung-min of LAFC, who has been without a goal for seven consecutive matches, is set to start against Real Salt Lake.

According to reports, Son Heung-min was named in the starting lineup for the 2026 Major League Soccer (MLS) match against Real Salt Lake, held at America First Field in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA, on the morning of the 6th at 10:30 a.m. Korean time.

According to the club, Son Heung-min will start as the lone striker in a 3-4-3 formation today. Denis Bouanga and Tyler Boyd will be positioned on the left and right flanks to support Son Heung-min.

Son Heung-min aims to score for the first time in eight matches and after more than a month in this game.

Since scoring against Vancouver Whitecaps on the 2nd last month, he has failed to find the net in seven consecutive matches, including three League Cup games and four MLS matches. The same applies to assists.

Recently, despite playing full 90 minutes in two consecutive MLS starts and increasing his playing time, he has yet to record a goal. Amidst his scoring drought, LAFC has also struggled recently with five consecutive league matches without a win (three draws and two losses).

However, Real Salt Lake is at least an expected opponent for Son Heung-min, as he has historically performed exceptionally well against them.

Last September, in two encounters against Real Salt Lake, he delivered outstanding performances with a hat-trick in one match and a goal plus an assist in the other. In this season's July matchup, he also scored a goal, maintaining a dominant record of three consecutive matches with goals and five goals plus one assist against Real Salt Lake.
