Son Heung-min (34, LAFC) finally broke his long goal drought. It has been over a month since the 2nd and eight official matches.

On the 6th (Korean time), Son Heung-min scored the second goal for his team during the 2026 MLS match against Real Salt Lake at America First Field in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA.

Son Heung-min's goal came in the 39th minute of the first half when the score was tied 1-1. A long pass from behind reached Denis Bouanga on the left flank, who then passed the ball into the penalty area. Son Heung-min connected with a left-footed non-stop shot. The shot hit the goalkeeper's hands, bounced off the crossbar, and dropped inside the goal line. Although he did not directly touch the net, the referee ruled it as a valid goal.

With this goal, Son Heung-min finally ended his long drought since the 2nd against Vancouver Whitecaps. Since then, he failed to record a goal or assist in three League Cup matches and four MLS matches, repeatedly expressing frustration.

However, he broke the momentum against 'arch-rival' Real Salt Lake, whom he had scored against in all three previous head-to-head meetings last year, including a hat-trick. Son Heung-min first provided an assist with a precise long pass to Bouanga in the 14th minute of the first half, then shook the net himself, completely shifting the atmosphere.
