Pro women's volleyball club Jeonggwanjang announced on the 6th that it has appointed former Heungkuk Life Insurance head coach Kwon Soon-chan as the new leader for the 2026-2027 season.

The head coach position at Jeonggwanjang had remained vacant since former head coach Koh Hee-jin resigned in August. Former head coach Koh Hee-jin stepped down from his role, taking responsibility for the controversy over inappropriate conduct by a team coach that occurred during a player dinner party in January.

Newly appointed head coach Kwon Soon-chan, who took over the team amid the crisis of finishing last in the previous season and internal club conflicts, will return to the professional stage after approximately 3 years and 9 months since stepping down as Heungkuk Life Insurance's head coach in January 2023.

A former player for Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance, he worked as a coach for Woori Capital and Korean Air after his retirement, and gained extensive coaching experience by serving as head coach for both KB Insurance (men's division) and Heungkuk Life Insurance (women's division).

The club explained the reason for the appointment, stating, "Head coach Kwon is a leader who drives player growth through team building based on communication, systematic analysis, and tailored coaching," adding, "We judged him to be the right person to stabilize the team and propel it toward new heights."

Head coach Kwon Soon-chan stated, "I am happy to take over the team, but I feel a heavy sense of responsibility," and added, "I will strive to communicate actively with the players to maximize their individual strengths and repay fans' expectations by showing improvement in every game."
