The Korea Racing Authority’s Horse Museum will hold the inaugural artist exhibition of Lee So-hee, titled “Unread Time,” at 10 a.m. on October 23. The exhibition features works that express, through imagery, moments in the lives of horses and humans that are neither recorded nor remembered, as well as the preciousness accumulated within an ordinary day.

Horses in Gyeongju also have moments defined by running, arriving, and being recorded by rankings and lap times, yet a single horse’s life is not composed solely of such records. The majority of life is filled with time that leaves no result—moments like staying by the mother’s side after birth, nursing, grazing on grass, walking slowly, or gazing blankly into the distance.

The works create scenes that appear to exist on the boundary between reality and dreams, characterized not by detailed depiction but by layered brushstrokes and the fusion of colors that evoke the traces of time.

A Korea Racing Authority official, in a phone interview with this outlet, stated, “The representative work ‘The Beginning of Time’ reflects the artist’s intention for our ordinary moments to be remembered like myths. It evokes a familiar atmosphere one might find upon entering a small, ancient European cathedral. The angel blowing a trumpet and the white horse appearing brightly between the clouds convey that when a life is born—whether horse or human—a single myth begins.”
