Actor Byun Woo-seok has risen to third place in the Star Ranking's Star Actor Male category.

Byun Woo-seok secured third place in the 169th Star Ranking Star Actor Male vote, which ran from 3:01 p.m. on the 11th to 3:00 p.m. on the 18th.

In this vote, Kim Soo-hyun, who received 49,451 votes, took first place, followed by Lee Jun-ho in second with 39,342 votes, while Byun Woo-seok claimed third with 17,757 votes.

Meanwhile, Star Ranking is a ranking poll where fans directly vote for their favorite stars to determine the standings. When voting via mobile, voters can receive a voting certificate, and depending on the ranking results, various special benefits are provided to the stars.

Stars selected as number one for four consecutive weeks are featured in outdoor digital billboard advertisements. Fans of stars who rank number one for four consecutive weeks can also request a fan video for the outdoor billboard ad. Requests should be sent to the StarNews official email (star@mtstarnews.com).

The 170th Star Ranking Star Actor Male vote will run from 3:01 p.m. on the 18th to 3:00 p.m. on the 25th.

Starting with the June vote, the results will be factored into the selection of the AAA 2026 Star Ranking award winners.

Byun Woo-seok appeared alongside singer and actress IU in MBC's '21st Century Grand Duchess,' which concluded last month.

However, the work was immediately engulfed in a controversy over historical distortion. Critics pointed to scenes where, during the king's coronation ceremony, ministers chanted 'Cheonse' (Ten Thousand Years), used by vassal states, instead of 'Manse' (Ten Thousand Years), the symbol of an independent nation, and where the king wore a Guryu Myeonryugwan, a hat worn by Chinese ministers, rather than the Shimi Myeonryugwan used by emperors of independent nations.

As the controversy intensified, Byun Woo-seok, IU, director Park Jun-hwa, and screenwriter Yoo Ji-won issued tearful apologies.
