As it has been a year and a half since the passing of late Seo Hee-won, former wife of K-pop group Clon's Gu Jun-yeop, various rumors surrounding her estate and child guardianship have spread, prompting her family to issue direct clarifications.

According to Taiwan's ET Today on the 17th, recent reports circulating in some Chinese media outlets claimed that Seo Hee-won's younger sister, Seo Hee-je, refused to serve as a joint guardian for her two children.

Additionally, allegations surfaced claiming that the Seo family failed to properly check on the children's well-being following Seo Hee-won's death and did not invite the children to the unveiling ceremony of a memorial statue dedicated to her. Currently, Seo Hee-won's two children are being raised by her ex-husband, Wang Xiao-fei.

In response, Seo Hee-je strongly denied these allegations. She stated, "No one has ever mentioned joint guardianship to me," and added, "Under legal regulations, it is impossible for me to become the children's joint guardian unless their father's parental rights are suspended."

Regarding claims that the children were not invited to the memorial statue unveiling ceremony, she explained, "The family had extended invitations in advance; whether they attended depended on the children's wishes and schedules."

Seo Hee-je said, "Our entire family loves both children very much," and added, "We remained silent because continuously responding to rumors could turn our family's pain into mere gossip."

She further expressed, "It has been extremely difficult for us, as we are still grieving, to encounter reports that contradict the facts," and urged an end to baseless speculation and reporting.

Meanwhile, Seo Hee-won married Chinese businessman Wang Xiao-fei in 2011 and had one son and one daughter before divorcing in 2021. She later reunited with Gu Jun-yeop after more than two decades and remarried him in 2022. However, she passed away last February due to acute pneumonia caused by influenza during a trip to Japan.
