The Prosecution Service has sought a prison sentence for Yuk Mo, the mother of singer Jang Yoon-jung, who was arrested and indicted on suspicion of investment fraud involving tens of millions of won.

According to NEWS1 on the 27th, on this day, the Prosecution Service requested that the court sentence Yuk to one year and six months in prison during a trial for fraud charges held before Judge Seo Beom-jun (Director) of the Seoul Eastern District Court's Criminal Division 2.

Between 2024 and 2025, Yuk allegedly told acquaintances that they could earn money by investing, leveraging her relationship with her biological daughter Jang Yoon-jung, from whom she had been estranged due to financial issues in the past. She is accused of receiving a total of 31 million won on three separate occasions and failing to return the promised profits.

The Prosecution Service pointed out that "the defendant has already served a prison sentence for fraud using similar methods, yet committed this offense; the amount involved is not small, and the victims have not been compensated."

Yuk's side admitted to all charges on this day. However, they requested leniency, citing that Yuk fully acknowledged the allegations, deeply regretted her actions, and used most of the misappropriated funds for living expenses.

At the end of the trial, it was reported that Yuk shed tears while saying, "I truly did wrong to the victims and their families."

The sentencing hearing is scheduled to take place on September 10 at 2 p.m.
