Jim Thornton, the host of the popular American game show "Wheel of Fortune," has reportedly been suspended from appearing on the program following an incident that occurred aboard an aircraft earlier this year.

According to TMZ on the 2nd (local time), Sony stated, "We have become aware of recent allegations involving Jim Thornton." The company added, "Thornton has been suspended from 'Wheel of Fortune,' and a replacement host will be appointed while a thorough investigation is underway."

Specific charges or details of the incident have not been disclosed. However, it is reported that when Thornton boarded a flight in May, one passenger raised complaints about him to the crew. Upon the aircraft's arrival in Los Angeles, police investigated Thornton. American Airlines also stated, "On May 14, American Airlines Flight 1276 was subject to a police investigation after arriving at Los Angeles International Airport following a report from an onboard passenger."

Thornton's side countered, stating, "He did not engage in any illegal activity, was not arrested, and has not been charged." They further claimed, "Regarding the passenger's complaint on the same flight, police spoke with him for less than five minutes, immediately confirmed he had done nothing wrong, and authorized his release to his legal representative."

Meanwhile, Thornton joined "Wheel of Fortune" in 2011 following the death of former announcer Charlie O'Donnell, who passed away at age 78 from congestive heart failure. In addition, Thornton has appeared on programs such as "The Soup," "The Price Is Right," and "Celebrity Deathmatch." He also worked as a voice actor in the animated film "Monsters, Inc."
