In "Kim Ju-ha's Day & Night," popular actor Hyun Bong-sik (42) reveals a behind-the-scenes story in which he freely used informal speech toward his senior, Kim Yun-seok (59), who is 17 years older.

On the night of the 19th, during the 43rd episode of MBN's "Kim Ju-ha's Day & Night," Hyun Bong-sik shares a bittersweet anecdote about how his youthful appearance actually helped him seize acting opportunities.

That day, when MC Kim Ju-ha asked, "Did your youthful look help you land any roles?" Hyun Bong-sik recalled an incident during the audition for the film "Secret Investigation." He described how, after performing a prepared scene in the audition room, director Kwak Kyung-taek praised him enthusiastically, saying, "Where have you been hiding all this time? Your face is truly remarkable." Following that, Hyun Bong-sik was offered a more significant role than originally planned and recalled the thrilling moment when he hung up the phone and shouted with joy.

Hyun Bong-sik further explained, "At the time, I was around 30 or 31 years old, playing a detective alongside senior actor Kim Yun-seok." He noted that because there was a 17-year age difference between them, he felt compelled to speak casually and use informal speech. He then shared his inner thoughts with laughter: "When else would I ever get to use informal speech with someone like him? It was so much fun!"

Hyun Bong-sik also revealed that his current stage name, Hyun Bong-sik, is a pseudonym; his real name is Hyun Bo-ram, a pure Korean name given directly by his grandfather. However, because kindergarten friends teased him for having a girl's name, he changed it to Hyun Jae-young before entering elementary school. Later, when he moved to Seoul to pursue his dream of becoming an actor, he created the name "Hyun Bong-sik" by taking one character each from his father's and uncle's names. He shared that he began his acting career with the resolve: "I must not tarnish my name," adding a touching sentiment that moved everyone.

When Hyun Bong-sik added, "I think people might feel betrayed if they found out my real name was Hyun Jae-young when signing contracts," Kim Ju-ha fired back with a blunt question: "Bong-sik suits you well; why would you choose a sophisticated name like Jae-young?" This comment sparked widespread laughter about the notion of betrayal.

"Kim Ju-ha's Day & Night" airs every Saturday night at 9:40 p.m.
