It has been 12 years since the late singer Shin Hae-cheol left this world in a regrettable medical accident.

The late Shin Hae-cheol passed away on October 27, 2014. He was 46 years old at the time of his death.

Ten days before his death, the late artist underwent surgery for intestinal obstruction at a hospital in Seoul, after which he complained of high fever and pain in his chest and abdomen before collapsing from cardiac arrest. He immediately received cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and was urgently transported to receive emergency surgery, but ultimately succumbed.

The public was shocked by the sudden death of Shin Hae-cheol, who had been called the "Demon King" of the music industry. Subsequently, suspicions of a medical accident were raised, and his family took legal action against the doctor who performed the surgery.

Dr. Kang, the late artist's surgeon, was sentenced to 10 months of imprisonment suspended for two years at the first-instance trial on November 2016 on charges of negligent homicide in the course of business. However, the family and the Prosecution Service appealed against the verdict, and the second-instance court handed down a one-year prison sentence. Subsequently, the Supreme Court also upheld the one-year prison sentence.

The late Shin Hae-cheol, who appeared on the stage of MBC's "University Song Festival" in 1988 as the vocalist of the band Muhan Gwido (Endless Track), gained fame by winning the grand prize with his song "To You." He later went on to leave behind numerous hit songs such as "Don't Wear a Sad Face," "Jazz Cafe," "The Knight of the Doll," "Urbanite," and "You in the Depths of My Heart" while active as a solo singer and member of the rock band N.EX.T.

In addition, he served as the DJ for the radio program "Ghost Station," communicating with listeners over a long period and receiving great love from them.
