2PM reaches number one on Japans Oricon Weekly Chart

2PMs new Japanese single grabbed the top spot on the Oricon and Tower Records weekly charts in Japan. 2PM released their seventh Japanese single, “Winter Games,” on the 16th, and since then it has been topping Oricon’s real-time and daily charts, and on the 23rd, it ranked at the top on the Oricon Weekly Chart. It has been nine months K-pop stars ranked on the top on Oricon chart.


 


Before 2PM’s single was released, Tower Records in Shibuya prepared an exclusive special checkout for “Winter Games” in anticipation of the congestion due to the local fans’ hot interest in the group. The song garnered immense popularity as soon as it was released so that it made the number-one spot on Tower Records’ chart of daily sales of singles regardless of genre and became number one on the company’s weekly chart as well. The song even ranked number one on the Japanese ringtone chart, Recochoku.


 


2PM says, “We are very pleased and happy about the honor of being number one on the Oricon and Tower Records weekly charts after being number one on their daily charts. We will be a more diligent 2PM in accordance with the tons of love we’re receiving. We sincerely thank everyone.”


 


Meanwhile, 2PM members continue their individual activities in Korea. The group will soon depart for Germany to perform at the Lee Mija Guten Tag Lady Dong Baek concert.
