Who is the ultimate cover star of "Golden," the OST from the Netflix animated film K-POP Demon Hunters?
As K-POP Demon Hunters continues to gain global popularity, its OST is also riding the wave of success. Especially standing out is "Golden" by K-pop girl group Huntrix—a high-difficulty song with impressive high notes, which has become the go-to challenge track for singers known for their vocal skills.
According to the Billboard chart on the 5th (local time), the K-POP Demon Hunters OST ranked No. 2 on the Billboard 200 main album chart and topped both the Global 200 and Global (Excl. U.S.) charts.
Among the tracks, eight songs from the OST simultaneously charted on the Billboard Hot 100 for four consecutive weeks—proving the massive impact of K-POP Demon Hunters. Leading the charge is the title track “Golden,” ranking at No. 2. Other tracks include “Your Idol” by the K-pop boy group LionBoyz at No. 9, “Soda Pop” at No. 16, Huntrix’s “How It’s Done” at No. 19, Huntrix member Lumi’s “Free” at No. 28, “What It Sounds Like” at No. 29, and “Takedown” at No. 33.
With this explosive success, the "Golden" challenge has also become a hot topic among singers. First-generation idol Bada of S.E.S. drew major attention with her cover, while powerhouse vocalists like Sohyang, Kwon Jin-ah, Park Hye-won, Ailee, and Lee Hae-ri of Davichi showcased what’s being dubbed a true "high-note strength show."
Current idol stars have also jumped on the challenge trend. Ahn Yu-jin of IVE, Solar of MAMAMOO, Solji of EXID, Billlie, and FIFTY FIFTY all attempted to become the ultimate "Golden" cover champion.
Among them, Ahn Yu-jin’s challenge video garnered 5.6 million views, Kwon Jin-ah’s 3 million, Ailee’s 2.4 million, Bada’s 2.5 million, and Sohyang’s 1.3 million.
Even portal site Nate joined in on the craze, running a poll titled “'Golden' dominates Billboard… Who is the ultimate cover queen?” pitting Sohyang against Park Hye-won, further fueling the K-POP Demon Hunters phenomenon.
