BigHit Music’s rookie boy group CORTIS (Martin, James, Juhun, Sunghyun, Gunho) has showcased their identity as a true “young creator crew” by releasing a music video they produced entirely on their own.
On the evening of the 26th at 9 PM KST, CORTIS unveiled the original version of the music video for their debut album’s title track “What You Want” via their official YouTube channel. The project was made special by the fact that the members planned, filmed, and edited the video 100% independently, without professional assistance.
The group interpreted the song’s message — “I won’t hesitate to go after what I truly want” — through a dual meaning of “dreams” and used it as the central theme of the video. Scenes depict the members lying in bed, on the street, or waking up in a new location, with each shift unveiling a new story. Unique directing touches, such as a shot that makes it look like the camera is being swallowed, fast-paced rough cuts, and the members’ dramatic reactions, add unpredictability and fun.
This self-produced video by CORTIS actually became the foundation for the official “What You Want” music video released on the 20th. The members went beyond simply providing ideas — they collaborated directly with professional directors, earning credits as co-directors. Fans are enjoying watching the self-produced video alongside the official version, comparing the two and spotting creative differences.
With not only their music and choreography but also music video production under their belts, CORTIS is proving their capabilities as a genuine “young creator crew.” Meanwhile, on the 27th at 9 PM KST, CORTIS will release a commentary video for “What You Want” on their official YouTube channel, where they’ll share behind-the-scenes stories, including which ideas were carried over from their self-made project.
