Big Hit Music’s rookie boy group CORTIS is gaining global attention as their music spreads by word of mouth among international fans.
CORTIS (Martin, James, Juhun, Sunghyun, Gunho)’s debut album title track “What You Want” reached No. 1 on Spotify’s Daily Viral Songs Global chart (as of September 1). Among rookie groups debuting this year, CORTIS is the only team to top this chart.
“What You Want” also appeared on the Daily Viral Songs charts in 24 countries/regions worldwide (as of September 1). Notably, the song ranked No. 1 in seven countries/regions, including Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines.
Spotify’s Daily Viral Songs chart measures tracks experiencing a rapid surge in streams and shares, making it an objective indicator of the fastest-moving trends in the music market. That a rookie group achieved this with their debut track demonstrates the strong interest from global music fans. As of the same date, “What You Want” had surpassed 3.29 million cumulative streams on Spotify. Additionally, CORTIS has exceeded 1.1 million monthly listeners (over the past 28 days), showing remarkable performance just about two weeks after the release.
“What You Want” is a declarative anthem capturing CORTIS’ determination as they step into a new world. The five members boldly proclaim that they will confidently seize what they desire. The track blends Boom bap rhythms with psychedelic rock guitar riffs reminiscent of the 1960s, offering a fresh and captivating sound. Its popularity has been fueled by performances on 11 treadmills and unwavering live stages.
Meanwhile, CORTIS will release their debut album COLOR OUTSIDE THE LINES on September 8 at 6 p.m. KST. On the same day, the music video for the follow-up track “FaSHioN” will be released on HYBE Labels’ official YouTube channel.
