Actor Yoo Yeon-seok, known as “Rita’s Dad” for raising his pet dog Rita, showcased a miraculous 1-hit, 3-miss performance.

According to Nielsen Korea on the 28th, the SBS variety program “When There’s a Gap,” which aired on the 27th, recorded a peak viewership of 6% and an average household rating of 4.3% in the metropolitan area, securing first place among all variety and educational programs in the same time slot for 11 consecutive weeks. Additionally, it achieved a 1.4% rating in the 2049 demographic, ranking first among variety shows aired on Tuesdays. Guests Seo Hyun-jin and Lee Chun-hee joined the episode.

On this day, Yoo Jae-suk and Lee Chun-hee reunited after 16 years in a variety show. When Lee Chun-hee expressed his disappointment, saying, “I’ve been inviting Jae-seok hyung to visit Gongbang for over ten years, but he never came,” Yoo Jae-suk skillfully placated him by saying, “I’ll go next year,” eliciting laughter. However, Lee Chun-hee maintained his quirky charm, stating, “Actually, I quit my job last year. It’s been a long time since I visited, so I’m going to go together with hyung.”

Meanwhile, Seo Hyun-jin and Lee Chun-hee revealed Yoo Yeon-seok’s daily life addicted to games, heightening interest. Seo Hyun-jin testified to Yoo Yeon-seok’s love for gaming, saying, “Yoo Yeon-seok really loves games. He keeps trying to bet on games during filming.” Even when Yoo Yeon-seok revealed, “I’m going to a school MT soon and have prepared another game event,” Lee Chun-hee shook his head in disbelief, saying, “He always plays games at company dinners, so people don’t drink because of their competitive spirit,” causing bursts of laughter.

The first gap owner was a mother and son who run a pharmacy. The gap owner duo shared the joys and sorrows they experience while working together as colleagues without holding back, showcasing pleasant chemistry. In particular, the gap owner praised them throughout the gap time, saying, “Yoo Jae-suk and Dr. Oh Eun-young should be designated as national treasures,” bringing laughter.

The first gap game was “Medicine Bottle Bowling,” where players bounced a table tennis ball with a snow shovel to knock over medicine bottles. Lee Chun-hee demonstrated the ingenuity of a carpenter, devising a clever plan to tune up the snow shovel. Just as everyone struggled with the high-difficulty mission, Yoo Jae-suk struck a strike in just two attempts, turning the atmosphere around. However, from the second stage, a variable emerged where the fallen bottles obstructed the path. Nevertheless, Yoo Jae-suk succeeded in the second stage on his final attempt, completing a comeback. Yoo Jae-suk expressed pride, saying, “The combination was amazing,” while Seo Hyun-jin was moved by Yoo Jae-suk’s hard carry, stating, “Seeing senior in person, he looks like an athlete. There’s a halo shining behind him.”

Amid this, Seo Hyun-jin shared behind-the-scenes stories from her filming with Yoo Yeon-seok 10 years ago, heightening interest. Yoo Yeon-seok mentioned that this was his second time working with Seo Hyun-jin after the drama “Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim,” boasting of their special chemistry by saying, “Since we’ve worked together before, filming is so fun.”

The second gap owner was a dog, marking the first canine gap owner in the history of “When There’s a Gap,” which sparked surprise. They had been involved together in “puppy walking,” which is guide dog training for the visually impaired.

The second gap game, designed specifically for the historic first dog gap owners, was “Disc Whoosh,” where players threw a disc to hit cones. Yoo Yeon-seok showed enthusiasm, saying, “I have to succeed today,” as retrievers rushed toward the treat cart, which served as the prize. Accordingly, Lee Chun-hee hit the cone on his second attempt. In the second stage, the number of cones increased to three, leading to a precarious contest. Even when the retrievers mistook disc throwing for play and watched intently with pitiful eyes, Yoo Yeon-seok fired up their passion, saying, “We have to give them treats. What about those eyes?”

As a result, Yoo Yeon-seok succeeded in the second stage with a 1-hit, 3-miss on his seventh attempt, completing a dramatic story. When the gap owner called for a stop, allowing them to receive all prizes including the treat cart and fleece gifts, Seo Hyun-jin expressed relief, saying, “That was an excellent choice.” The four enjoyed a happy snack time with the retrievers, completing a lovable healing moment until the very end.
