Actress Jeon Ji-hyun is set to walk the red carpet at Cannes for the first time with 'COLONY' (directed by Yeon Sang-ho), her first film in 11 years.

The film 'COLONY' will have its world premiere at Cannes at midnight on the 15th. 'COLONY' is invited to the Midnight Screening section of the 79th Cannes International Film Festival and will meet audiences for the first time.

Before the premiere screening on this day, director Yeon Sang-ho and actors Jeon Ji-hyun, Koo Kyo-hwan, Ji Chang-wook, Shin Hye-bin, and Kim Shin-rok will walk the red carpet. After meeting fans on the red carpet in front of the Lumière Theatre, they will join the film screening.

In particular, Jeon Ji-hyun, who returns to the screen for the first time in 11 years through 'COLONY', is set to experience the honor of advancing to Cannes for the first time. Attention is focused on the beautiful appearance she will show on the Cannes red carpet.

'COLONY' is a film about isolated survivors inside a building sealed off by an unidentified infectious outbreak, fighting against infected individuals evolving in unpredictable forms. As it is being unveiled for the first time at the world premiere, interest is high regarding what kind of response it will receive.

Director Yeon Sang-ho has been invited to the Cannes Film Festival for the fourth time, following his first feature-length animation 'King of Pigs' (2012, Directors' Fortnight), 'Train to Busan' (2016, Midnight Screening section), and 'Peninsula' (2020, Official Selection). Known for leaving a strong impression on the global film industry with genre films that add a Korean-style zombie genre and original twists, director Yeon Sang-ho is set to once again prove the strength of Korean cinema through 'COLONY'.

Jeon Ji-hyun, stepping on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet for the first time with 'COLONY', said, "I am truly joyful and honored to be invited to the Cannes Film Festival, where filmmakers from around the world gather, with 'COLONY'. I am excited to present my first collaboration with director Yeon Sang-ho on such a meaningful stage. I will do my best to show the strength of Korean genre films to audiences worldwide. Please give us your support and interest."

Meanwhile, 'COLONY', which is being unveiled for the first time through the Cannes Film Festival, will be released on the 21st.
