Jennie (JENNIE) claimed the No. 1 trophy with her new song "Less than a Lover" on Mnet's "M Countdown," which aired on July 30, without making an on-screen appearance.

"Less than a Lover" topped Bugs' real-time chart and Apple Music's "Today's TOP 100: South Korea" chart, while also securing the No. 1 spot on YouTube's trending videos in South Korea, achieving top rankings across domestic music and video metrics.

In China, the song reached No. 1 on three major music platforms: QQ Music, NetEase Cloud Music, and KuGou Music. Notably, it became the only female solo single released this year to receive Gold certification on QQ Music.

Overseas chart success continued as well. "Less than a Lover" ranked highly on Apple Music's "Top Songs" charts in multiple countries and regions, including Cambodia, Vietnam, and Laos. On Spotify's "Daily Top Songs" chart, it climbed into the top ranks in several countries and regions such as South Korea, Malaysia, and Singapore. The song also claimed No. 1 on iTunes' "Top Songs" charts in 27 countries and regions, including Vietnam, Chile, Indonesia, and Peru, setting a record for the most No. 1 placements among K-pop solo songs released this year.

The music video also topped YouTube Music's Worldwide Trending Music Videos chart, as well as the YouTube Video Trending charts in both South Korea and the United States.

"Less than a Lover," which Jennie contributed to writing and composing, was created with summer in mind, capturing the excitement and lingering feelings of a relationship that exists between being lovers and friends. The alternative pop track features Lo-fi-style guitar and vintage electric keyboards.

Meanwhile, Jennie is scheduled to perform on major festival stages including Lollapalooza Chicago in the United States and Summer Sonic 2026 in Japan.
