Professional basketball's Seoul SK quelled the rising momentum of Seoul Samsung, which had been on an unstoppable 9-game winning streak. At the center of this was SK guard Oh Jae-hyun.

SK, led by head coach Jeon Hee-cheol, defeated Samsung 90-76 in a regular season game of the 2026~2027 LG Electronics Professional Basketball League held at Seoul Jamsil Student Gymnasium on the 1st.

With this victory, SK extended its winning streak to five games, recording a season record of 5 wins and 1 loss. On the other hand, Samsung, which had set a KBL all-time record for the most consecutive opening game wins with a 9-game start, suffered its first defeat of the season.

One of the key figures in SK's victory was Oh Jae-hyun. On this day, Oh Jae-hyun performed brilliantly, recording 22 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists. While Isaiah Hicks led the offense with 24 points and 8 rebounds, Oh Jae-hyun contributed with aggressive drives and perimeter shots.

Above all, Oh Jae-hyun's offensive prowess stood out. Until now, Oh Jae-hyun had been evaluated as a guard with top-tier defensive skills in the league, but he had relatively left room for improvement on the offensive end.

However, this day was different. With confident play, he rattled Samsung's defense and scored the second-most points on his team.

Coincidentally, head coach Nicolas Madsen (Latvia), who leads the South Korea men's national basketball team, visited the arena for this game. Coach Madsen watched the showdown between SK and Samsung directly from the stands with his family.

For Oh Jae-hyun, it was a good opportunity to reveal his presence. Under the watchful eye of the national team coach, he demonstrated competitiveness not only in his existing strength of defense but also on offense. It was a performance worth noting in future national team selection competitions.

In particular, for a national team guard, defensive ability to control the opponent's offense is important, along with scoring and game management skills. By scoring 22 points on this day, Oh Jae-hyun showed the potential that he can contribute sufficiently on the offensive end as well.

Jeon Hee-cheol, the head coach of his own team, also did not hold back praise for Oh Jae-hyun. After the game, Coach Jeon exclaimed about Oh Jae-hyun's performance, "He was insane today. He played incredibly well."

He continued, "It seems he gave us everything we wanted on offense. He shot with confidence and showed good form in drives and fast breaks," highly evaluating his play.

It was an even more welcome performance for SK. The team had been in a situation where it needed to fill the void created by Eddie Daniel's recent absence due to a hamstring injury. Amidst this, Oh Jae-hyun fulfilled his role on both offense and defense, leading the team to victory.

Coach Jeon positively evaluated that SK players moved actively with confidence on offense as well. In particular, Oh Jae-hyun lived up to the head coach's expectations by converting bold offensive attempts into points.

Oh Jae-hyun also expressed satisfaction with his performance. He was delighted, saying, "It was a day when things went well." In fact, Oh Jae-hyun completed a 4-point play by successfully making a three-pointer late in the third quarter while drawing a foul from the opponent.

Although SK started its season schedule later than other teams, it has already entered the race for the top spot thanks to its steep upward trend.

Oh Jae-hyun said, "I had injured players on my team as well. So starting late and analyzing our opponents seems to have helped," adding, "Also, we had about two more weeks than other teams to practice together, so it was a positive situation."
