Singer Sung Hyun-woo, formerly of the group Limitless, recently came under renewed scrutiny after revealing an account of being threatened with a weapon during a trip to Jeju. He has now clarified that the story is not fabricated.

On the 27th, Sung Hyun-woo uploaded a video titled "Hello, this is Sung Hyun-woo. I would like to speak regarding the Jeju Island story" on his YouTube channel.

Sung Hyun-woo began by saying, "Regarding the recent viral video about nearly being murdered in Jeju Island, which has caused significant social shock due to the tragic deaths of many individuals, I sincerely mourn for the deceased and extend my deepest condolences and sympathy to their families."

He also noted that there were parts of his story he had not previously disclosed, stating, "I want to make one thing clear: everything I mentioned in the video is based solely on facts I personally experienced, without any process or dramatization."

He further emphasized, "Some may have thought I fabricated the story to gain views or attention, but I did not exaggerate real events into falsehoods."

Sung Hyun-woo also announced that he would not generate any revenue from this video.

In February, Sung Hyun-woo had previously shared on his YouTube channel an account of fleeing after being threatened with a weapon by a drunk man at a restaurant in Seongsan, Jeju, in 2021.

His story recently resurfaced online amid growing concerns over missing persons cases in Jeju. While the video surpassed 3 million views, some claims emerged suggesting his account was exaggerated.

Meanwhile, Sung Hyun-woo first gained public attention by appearing on Mnet's 'Produce 101' Season 2 in 2017.
