Hollywood actor Ansel Elgort is facing controversy for wearing a yukata, a traditional Japanese garment, at an official event held in Seoul.

Elgort attended the 'CJ Night in Celebration of Frieze Seoul' event held on the 2nd at the Leeum Museum of Art in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul. The event was attended by numerous prominent Korean figures, including actor Lee Byung-hun and his wife Lee Min-jung, actor Lee Jung-jae, and singer G-Dragon.

What drew particular attention was Elgort's outfit. He appeared dressed in a yukata, a traditional Japanese garment. Since the event took place in Korea and was meant to showcase K lifestyle, his wearing of a Japanese traditional costume sparked heated debate among netizens.

Critics argued, "There is no attempt to understand culture," and "What are you doing at an official Korean event?" Meanwhile, others maintained that attributing excessive historical or political significance to an individual's clothing choice was overreaching.
