Kim Se-ui's defense counsel responded: "There is no change in our desire for a citizen participation trial."

In contrast, Kim Soo-hyun's defense counsel told the court: "Looking at what the defendant stated through broadcasts regarding why the defendant's side desires a citizen participation trial, he said 'We must fight against massive leftist power, so we must hold a citizen participation trial. We will fight against the Republic of Korea Prosecutor's Office and others.' Based on the fact that the defendant continues to make such claims even while in custody, we hope you will examine whether this truly aligns with the purpose of a citizen participation trial."

He further emphasized: "We are concerned that the defendant's side may be attempting to once again bring distorted atmosphere into the trial, or may be attempting to use this for political purposes. We hope you will reconsider the citizen participation trial."

Previously, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, Women and Children Crime Investigation Division 2, indicted Kim Se-ui (CEO) on charges including violation of the Information and Communications Network Act (defamation), violation of the Special Act on Punishment of Sexual Violence Crimes (distribution of recordings using cameras, etc.), and violation of the Act on Punishment of Stalking Crimes, among others.

Kim Se-ui is accused of spreading false information from March to May of last year through YouTube live broadcasts and press conferences, stating that the late actor Kim Saeron dated Kim Soo-hyun for approximately 6 years starting from her teenage years, and that pressure from Kim Soo-hyun's side to repay debts was the cause of the deceased's death.

Additionally, Kim Se-ui is accused of manipulating the deceased's voice using generative artificial intelligence (AI) and fabricating false facts as if the deceased had dated Kim Soo-hyun since middle school, thereby damaging Kim Soo-hyun's reputation.

The police and Prosecutor's Office, which investigated the case, stated in the indictment that Kim Se-ui transmitted false information a total of 25 times for the purpose of defaming Kim Soo-hyun. Along with this, the charges also include publicly disclosing photos with Kim Soo-hyun's body exposed and mentioning the possibility of disclosing additional photos, thereby coercing Kim Soo-hyun's side to acknowledge dating the deceased and issue a public apology. However, Kim Se-ui is completely denying the charges.
