Professional baseball team Lotte Giants is expanding the reach of baseball by continuing its T-ball education program for local students.

Lotte announced on the 5th that it held a 'G-LOVE T-Ball Academy' school invitation event on the 4th, coinciding with a home game against Hanwha Eagles at Sajik Stadium in Busan.

At the T-ball field inside Sajik Stadium, Kim Moon-ho, a coach from Lotte, personally instructed the invited students. The students learned basic batting and defensive movements and spent time getting closer to baseball by experiencing actual T-ball games.

Students selected as outstanding participants in the education program, Choi Won-bae and Son Seo-young of Borim Elementary School, were responsible for throwing the ceremonial first pitch and hitting the ceremonial first ball during the Hanwha game, respectively. Participating students also gained the opportunity to watch the game as a group.

The T-Ball Academy is a rotating education program operated by Lotte in collaboration with the Busan Office of Education since 2016. It visits schools approximately 120 times annually to teach students T-ball.

T-ball involves hitting a ball placed on a fixed tee instead of one thrown by a pitcher, allowing students with little baseball experience to participate relatively easily. For students who find it difficult to encounter baseball in school physical education settings, it serves as a natural pathway to experience the sport.

Based on educational activities including this program, Lotte was selected as an 'Excellent Educational Philanthropy Institutional Investor' for 11 consecutive years and also received the 'Education Mesena Top' award.

The Lotte organization stated, "We plan to continue T-ball education linked with local schools in the future, expanding opportunities for students to experience baseball."
