Actors Lee Jong-suk and singer-actress IU have put an end to their four-year public relationship.

On the 10th, Ace Factory, Lee Jong-suk's agency, told StarNews, "It is true that Lee Jong-suk has broken up with IU." It further added, "As this concerns the actor's private life, we kindly ask for your understanding as we cannot provide additional responses."

On the same day, a representative from IU's agency, Eden Entertainment, also stated, "IU has broken up with Lee Jong-suk. The two have decided to remain good colleagues."

Earlier that day, Dispatch reported that Lee Jong-suk and IU had recently ended their relationship due to busy schedules reducing their opportunities to meet.

Lee Jong-suk and IU first met in 2012 as co-hosts of SBS music program 'Inkigayo.' Later, after winning the Grand Prize at the 2022 MBC Drama Awards for his role in the drama 'Big Mouth,' Lee Jong-suk remarked, "There was someone who guided me in a positive direction and helped me think positively when I had many fears and concerns after completing my military service. I am grateful to that person." His comments drew significant attention.

Shortly after the awards ceremony, it was revealed that IU was the subject of his remarks, and both agencies immediately confirmed their dating relationship.

However, during their four-year public relationship, the couple was repeatedly caught up in breakup rumors.

In 2024, baseless first breakup rumors surfaced, but they were dismissed as a mere incident after it was revealed that Lee Jong-suk had attended IU's concert alongside his close friend actor Shin Jae-ha.

In February 2025, second breakup rumors emerged centered on Chinese online communities, claiming IU was seen wearing an engagement ring. Later that April, during an interview following the conclusion of Netflix's 'Lovely Runner,' IU stated, "I know Lee Jong-suk is living a very busy life. I only want to say that I know him as Park Bo-gum's character in this drama," leading to speculation that their relationship had grown distant.

In May, the following month, reports surfaced that IU had dined with V at Ahn Sung-jae's restaurant 'Mosu' to celebrate her birthday. Additionally, while photos from her birthday post on SNS showed friends such as Kang Sa-na and Lee Ju-young, no image of Lee Jong-suk appeared, sparking further breakup rumors.

Despite numerous breakup rumors over the years, the two quietly continued their love until recently, when they ultimately decided to part ways and officially acknowledged their separation.

Meanwhile, Lee Jong-suk is set to appear in Disney+'s new series 'The Remarried Empress,' which will be released in the second half of this year. IU starred in MBC's drama '21st Century Grand Duchess,' which concluded last May. She is scheduled to hold a concert at Goyang Stadium's main field in September.
