Actor Kim Young-kwang (39) shared his impressions of working with Chae Soobin (32) in their first romantic comedy collaboration on "Charge Me Up."

Kim conducted an interview with StarNews at a cafe in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, on the morning of the 15th. He had previously met global audiences through the 10th-episode Netflix original series "Charge Me Up," which premiered on the 9th, and they discussed topics related to the show.

"Charge Me Up" is based on the web novel of the same name by author Haeban. It is a romantic comedy about the electrically charged romance between Baek Ho-rang (played by Kim Young-kwang), a chaebol third-generation heir whose artificial heart battery has run out, and Na Bo-bae (played by Chae Soobin), a drama writer with electrical powers. The series recorded 3 million views (calculated by dividing total viewing time by the work's total runtime) within three days of its release, rising to third place on the global Top 10 non-English shows list and continuing to gain popularity. It has also entered the Top 10 lists in a total of 44 countries, including Brazil, Singapore, India, Turkey, Chile, and the Philippines, alongside South Korea, maintaining strong reactions.

When asked about his chemistry with Chae Soobin, Kim expressed high satisfaction, saying, "(Chae) Soobin responds very well. She takes my jokes in stride, and even when situations change suddenly between rehearsal and the actual take, she handles them flexibly."

In particular, Kim described Chae Soobin as "incredibly cute. Watching her cuteness makes it natural for me to deliver romantic comedy performances," adding, "I want to work with her again in the future. It would be nice if it were another rom-com." He also remarked, "Soobin is always lying down on the set. She looks like a koala. The perm hairstyle she wore in the drama suited her very well."

Furthermore, Kim praised Chae Soobin, stating, "I was confident from the start that we would have great chemistry. In fact, when I first saw her, my image of her was that she looked like a child—cute and petite. But what I felt while filming together was that she is an actor who thinks deeply about every scene. She asks a lot of 'what if' questions, such as 'What do you think would happen if we did it this way?' I felt she is an ambitious actor who wants to portray acting in a very realistic manner. She has a great depth."
