Singer Seo In-young and actress Lee Sun-bin have joined forces for PD Kim Tae-ho's new variety show, "Mountain Detox Project."

"Mountain Detox Project," set to be released on the global OTT platform Netflix, is a newly launched variety program produced by TEO, the production company led by PD Kim Tae-ho. It is a physical trip seeking positive energy under the great outdoors. The lineup features Hong Jin-kyung, known for her intense competitive spirit in South Korea, along with Seo In-young, Lee Sun-bin, and rising newcomer Lee Yeon, creating a fresh ensemble. According to the production team, the show will depict a fun journey of shedding negative energy through various activities such as hiking, trail running, and backpacking, set against the beautiful natural landscapes of regions across the country.

The cast's backgrounds also heighten anticipation, as they have come together to clear away long-standing urban stress. Centered around veteran variety star Hong Jin-kyung are singer Seo In-young, who is enjoying a second peak in her career following her "complete transformation" (a play on words meaning both "turning over a new leaf" and her YouTube channel name), Lee Sun-bin, a "professional enthusiast" with the quality of a "madman with clear eyes," and actress Lee Yeon, a "mountain lover" who adores nature. Attention is focused on what kind of chemistry these four individuals, each with distinct personalities and charms, will create in the great outdoors.

Amid this, character teasers for Seo In-young and Lee Yeon have been released, further building anticipation. The two defined "competitive spirit" (or "detox") in different ways, declaring their intentions for the newly launched detox project.

First, Seo In-young announces her powerful return with the phrases "The Queen is Back" and "Original Competitive Spirit." From screaming upon receiving an invitation that reads "Welcome to Mountain Detox Project," to making a candid confession that she "hates competitive spirit so much, and I hate mountains too," she elicits laughter with unpredictable charm from the start. It is also revealed that while she becomes extremely sluggish when her competitive spirit runs out, conversely, when it is charged up, she burns with extraordinary willpower, saying things like "Let's really try to die" and "I'll be carried away by an ambulance there."

The competitive spirit defined by Seo In-young is precisely "die or live." In the following scene, Seo In-young was captured taking on the challenge with her whole body, even attempting quadrupedal movement while climbing a mountain. She displays an unstoppable momentum by shouting, "I overcame divorce too," and adds provocative lines such as "(If I fail) I'll close my 'Complete Transformation' YouTube channel" and "Let's stake our lives on this," heightening curiosity about the fiery performance that original competitive spirit Seo In-young will deliver.

Lee Yeon's character teaser, which showcases her running through nature with her whole body to display her own "competitive spirit," also captures attention. Lee Yeon defined competitive spirit as "the energy to get things done no matter what," and added, "When I run around in nature, it feels like I've become a very powerful person," sharing the energy she gains from the great outdoors. Knowing when to take a brief rest when tired from running is also part of Lee Yeon's unique competitive spirit management method. By showing herself giving her body and mind a rest in a sauna, she conveyed a different meaning of competitive spirit than simply running forward without looking back.

Lee Yeon added lingering resonance by following up with the message, "It's okay not to try too hard. It's good to truly enjoy it," after stating, "A mindset that doesn't give up, a persistent mindset that sees things through to the end— isn't that competitive spirit?" The unique competitive spirit of Lee Yeon, distinct from Seo In-young's, builds anticipation for what kind of journey it will lead to in the main episodes.

"Mountain Detox Project" will be released in its entirety on Netflix on November 20.

Meanwhile, Seo In-young married a non-celebrity businessman in 2023 but divorced the following year. Recently, she announced her remarriage to content creative Gi Eop (CEO) A, who is six years her senior, in the second half of this year, sparking buzz.

Lee Sun-bin has been in a public relationship with actor Lee Kwang-soo, who is nine years her senior, since 2018.
